Size Matters Handwriting Program
SMHP is one of the most evidence-based handwriting curriculums out there, and its also the one Ive personally seen the most success with! The core of the program posits that letter sizing is actually the most important factor in maintaining legibility. This program is what I recommend to all of the teachers and admins I work with. If you can get your school to adopt it as an official curriculum, you will definitely see a decrease in handwriting referrals!
Ot Masterys Vision Deficits And Occupation Course
Coming from a new continuing education provider, OT Masterys AOTA-approved course, Vision Deficits and Occupation, offers 1.25 hours of online continuing education.
The course objectives for this introductory course on low vision include: Explain how major vision concerns impact a persons function, identify the major visual impairments and eye conditions that OTs can provide treatment for, describe the difference between vision rehabilitation and low vision treatment as part of occupational therapy.
The course also offers visual system anatomy, prevalence of vision concerns and disorders, low vision evaluation and treatment as well as case studies along the way.

Montana Geriatric Education Centers Two Free Courses
The Montana Geriatric Education Center affiliated with the University of Montana offers three free 2-hour online courses on cognitive impairment. The courses are created for healthcare professionals.
The three courses are:
- Cognitive Decline and Dementia in Older Adults
- Screening for Cognitive Impairment
- Patients as Partners
The courses are offered for free as part of their Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program. If you ever work with older adults, this is a great option that is well worth your time.
To get credit, youll just have to register and pass the exam at the end of the courses with a 70% or higher.
Update: As of Feb. 2022, these courses are only free to Montana residents, however out-of-state residents can take any course for just $25
The Best Ceus For School
What are the best CEUs for school-based OTs? Thats a good question! It can be tricky to find continuing education that is highly relevant to our practice. General occupational therapy CEU courses can be too broad, and the professional development school districts often provide is usually aimed at classroom teachers. So whats a school-based OT who wants to grow in their work to do?

Hdsa Partners With American Occupational Therapy Association To Offer A Free Multi Part Course On Huntingtons Disease
If you would like to earn a free CEU from AOTA, you must take an online exam that will be posted on the AOTA website.
To access the module, go to store.aota.org and in the search bar, enter the code OL4920 which will bring up the course link.
Once you have purchased this free course, you will be sent an email explaining how to access the post test .
You will be able to download your CEU certificate immediately upon successfully completing the post test with a score of 75% or better.
